SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING

The Science Technology and Engineering (STE) Program is a curriculum where Science and Mathematics are strengthened while
English and Technology and Livelihood are also enriched. STE Curriculum offered by Science-oriented secondary schools both public and private-schools under the supervision of the Department of Education.
Enrollment Procedure
- Year-end interview with the parents for incoming Grade 8 to 10
- Qualifying examination result (for Grade 7)
Admission requirements:
- All incoming Grade 7 are qualified to take the qualifying examination of the program provided they must have the proficient rating of 85% and above in English, Science, Mathematics and no grade below 80% in all other subjects.
- The top three (3) honor pupils of all Grade VI graduating class may or may not take the qualifying examination with a certification from their respective principal/school head.
- The top 80 of the qualified applicants who confirmed to enroll in the STE program will undergo an interview together with their parents/guardians.
- There shall be two classes in each grade level. All classes shall have a maximum of forty students per class.
Program Standards
- To be retained in the program, the student should obtain a general average of Very Satisfactory (85%-89%) in Science, Mathematics, English and special subjects and Satisfactory (80%- 84%) in other subjects; and No Grade lower than 805 in any grading period.
- If the students fails to meet the grade requirement, probation of one (1) year shall be given. Further, if the student still cannot meet the grade requirement of level of proficiency, this shall be a cause of transfer to the regular classes.
- Students enrolled in this program are allowed to transfer laterally to any curriculum level (except in Grade 10) to another Science and Technology oriented STE Curriculum high school as long as the grade requirement is maintained.
- Transfer from any regular high school to STE Curriculum shall not be allowed in any grade level. However, transfer from any science high school to this class shall be allowed provided that student has no grade below 80% in all subjects.
